BCCAACN Scholarship Information

The purpose of the Kirkwood Merit System is to encourage chapter member participation. Points will be collected for different activities and members will be eligible for nursing educational scholarships.
I. General Information
A. All funds awarded from the Broward County Chapter AACN are awarded only to chapter members and are non-transferrable between chapter members. The applicant must have been a National and Local member
for 1 year prior to receiving funds.
B. The applicant must apply for a specific program. Such program shall be content-related to the development of expertise in critical care nursing.
C. The name/s of the reward recipient/s will be published in the Broward County Chapter AACN website.
II. Guidelines
A. Chapter fiscal year begins each July 1st and ends June 30th the following year. Fill out one record for each chapter fiscal year.
A total of 100 points in the last 3 fiscal year period are needed to qualify for a national scholarship award. You may combine years but any extra points are not carried over into the next or subsequent years.
B. A total of 50 points in the last 3 fiscal year period are needed to qualify for a local scholarship award. You may combine years but any extra points are not carried over into the next or subsequent
years. Scholarship will cover the price of registration for a local seminar.
C. Credit for attendance at meetings will be verified by copies of CE certificates. Applicants must attend at least 50 percent of monthly meetings.
D. To receive credit for seminar/committee participation, you must attend 75% of those meetings or contribute equal time to the committee in other ways. This must be verified by the committee chairperson.
E. If obtaining credit for publications, please furnish a copy of the publication or appropriate reference.
F. Applicants must be able to demonstrate active involvement in Chapter committee/work group/special projects.
G. One scholarship per person per fiscal year will be granted.
* Note: There may be exceptions to the above guidelines which will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
III. Point Redemption
A. Scholarship budget to be established by the Board at the beginning of each fiscal year and may be re-adjusted at the discretion of the board depending on the treasury balance.
B. Applications for Scholarship must be requested 8 weeks for local events and National events prior to appropriating monies. Application should be submitted to the Scholarship Chairperson for review with
supportive documentation.
C. You may mail the application and supporting documentation to the BCCAACN, P.O. Box 9092,Fort Lauderdale, FL33310. Postmark will be used for date submitted verification. Completed applications may
also be given to any Board member who will note the submission date on the application.

G. Active member on Broward Chapter committee .......... 10/yr/committee
H. Chapter Hospital Representative .......... 5
